Vinewood House

Los Santos, San Andreas, Oct. 2022

“The project main focus was the interior. By limiting the palette and softening the geometry, I wanted the spaces to feel calming” - Christopher Breedy

In the heart of Los Santos, the Vinewood House offers a response to urban living. Located on an empty plot in the video game Grand Theft Auto 5, the residence reinterprets modernist and brutalist principles through texture, materials, and layout.

“Because the foundation was predetermined, the layout was developed within the building’s footprint to meet the client’s needs.” - Christopher Breedy

From the curb, the façade is defined by a palette of white concrete and vertical wood slatting.

The recessed entry allows the roof overhang to cast shade across the windows and entrance, while the stone-paved driveway reinforces a sense of precision and order.

At the rear of the property, floor-to-ceiling windows dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior. The wall of windows connects the kitchen, dining, and living areas with a pool terrace, allowing daily life to extend outdoors.

Pool side loungers, and a fire pit are suited for both relaxation and social gatherings. The pool acts as a reflective plane, mirroring the surrounding palm trees and sky.

Inside, the home draws from Japandi influences, the interiors combine natural materials and soft textures, to create a sense of calm.

The kitchen and dining area form the social core of the project. Light oak cabinetry and the marble island ground the space, while the dining area windows draws in sunlight and opens views to the outdoor entertaining area.

In the primary bedroom, the material palette continues with layered wood paneling, a fluted headboard, and large sliding glass doors open to a secluded perimeter garden.

Adjacent to the kitchen and dining area, the living space features curved, low-profile furniture that promotes comfort

The home office also maintains visual access to the garden. Floor-to-ceiling shelving displays a curated collection of art and objects, reinforcing the space as a workspace and a personal archive.

The Vinewood House is defined by contrast. A private street facade paired with an open backyard elevation. This project addresses the realities of urban living; offering security and seclusion without sacrificing light, or openness.
